How it started and how it's going

The Women Changemakers Community began in the summer of 2023 when two passionate changemakers, Carmen Chan from Girls Be Change and Dorothy Lam from Dream Impact, found themselves reflecting on the need for a supportive network. They envisioned a space where women could come together to share their stories, engage in intentional conversations, and foster genuine friendships. This vision led to the first gathering, which took place on International Women’s Day in 2024, setting the stage for a transformative community.

Since then (as per Mar 2026), the initiative has gained momentum, with 24 successful gatherings organized and more than 300 women changemakers joined across Hong Kong, Indonesia, Kenya, Tanzania, Denmark, Peru, and the US. Girls Be Change has co-hosted the gatherings with 40+ community partners focused on impact eco-system, women empowerment, and climate action, including Impact Hub, Ashoka, WWF among others.
