Lan is a Vietnamese wildlife conservationist with over 13 years of experience managing and implementing conservation programs in Vietnam. The longer Lan works in wildlife conservation, the more she believes that we are unable to make the difference for wildlife without caring for the people and the community development.
Born and raised in a remote area in Vietnam where her female peers were leaving school, working for a living, and going into marriage from the age of 12, Lan managed to pursue a higher education and work in the not-for-profit sector to make positive changes for society. Years by years, she made efforts to get used to English and acquire fundings to travel across Vietnam and 10 countries in Asia, North America, South American, and Oceania for business and studies. The more Lan sees the world and reflects on her backgrounds, the more Lan realises the importance and indeed needs of education and girl empowerment in making changes for the community and the planet.
Between 2011 and 2023, Lan held key positions at three reputed Vietnamese NGOs including Wildlife At Risk, Save Vietnam’s Wildlife, and WildAct. Besides having real impacts for wildlife and local communities living around and within wildlife strongholds, Lan has proven contributions as an executive member in growing these organisations’ size, revenue, and influence.
Lan holds diverse skill sets, expertise, and experience both in and outside wildlife conservation field, particularly in strategic planning and organisational development, conservation communication and education, fundraising and partnership, programme development and project management, capacity development, museum interpretation, community engagement, behaviour change, social research, and business administration. Lan holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2010 and a Master in International Development in 2020. Lan keens on bringing her professions and passion to contribute to the mission of Girls Be Change.
