Katyayani Singh| Hong Kong & India

I’m Kat, 24, and working as a data analyst at Schneider Electric here in Hong Kong! I’m originally from India but spent the majority of my childhood on a little island called Brunei. I am an avid reader and a (wannabe) writer in my times outside of 'work' work. I love to record every feeling and thought I have through my many journals and sometimes my Substack. I love people and can talk for hours on just about anything. I’ve lived a life of immense privilege and have always been aware that the choices and opportunities available to me aren’t for many others. As a woman who mostly occupied traditionally male spaces, while engineering and working in tech, I am well aware of the unfairness women experience on the daily. I founded GirlUp, an organization for women on campus during my time at HKU after realizing the blatant disregard for safe communities for us. My goal for the rest of my 20s is to build a community for myself and others. bell hooks says that all healing must be done in communion and I believe that wholly. I want to find myself in the coming years, the things that make me think and feel, the things I want to do, my passions, things I love, things I hate all while and through building community. I want to create spaces where people like me can feel safe and at home.
