Kat is a data analyst at Schneider Electric in Hong Kong. Born in India and raised mainly in Brunei, she brings a cross-cultural outlook to her work and her community-building. Outside her professional role, she is an avid reader and writer who reflects on her experiences through journaling and her Substack.
Kat studied engineering and has built her career in tech, so she has spent much of her life in male-dominated spaces. That experience made her keenly aware of the inequities women face every day, and of the privilege and opportunity that many others lack. At the University of Hong Kong, she saw that women on campus had too few safe, supportive communities, so she founded GirlUp, an organization dedicated to them.
Kat is now focused on building community for herself and for others. Inspired by bell hooks's belief that healing happens in communion, she wants to create spaces where women can connect, explore who they are and what drives them, and feel safe and at home.
